Jean embraced Fairbanks. She worked hard and conscientiously for Yukon Office Supply, AIA, Mark Air, GCI and finally ACS, from which she retired several years ago.
Throughout the decades of her life in Fairbanks, Jean participated in sports, playing softball and golf, skiing and curling. Her father taught her to shoot, and for several years she and Stan went duck hunting with friends on Minto Flats along with their dog, Kepler.
In retirement, Jean and Stan wintered in Phoenix with Jean's sister, LeLyla "Punky" Adams, returned to Fairbanks in the spring and spent many long summer days at their cabin on Harding Lake, swimming, boating and socializing. Jean spoke often of enjoying the setting sun on the lake in the summer, and the awesome return of the swans in the fall. Jean was a member of the Harding Lake Association.

Jean was very involved with volunteer work for charities and nonprofit groups. She was a longtime member of the Fairbanks Sunrisers Rotary and volunteered each year to answer phones and record pledges for KUAC's annual fundraising drive.
Jean leaves behind her husband, Stan; her sister, Punky; and her many friends, who forever will miss her quick sense of humor, her ready laughter and her obvious concern, affection and willingness to help anyone in need.

Our annual meeting will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2016, beginning at 11 AM for gathering and lunch and our business meeting and presentations will begin no later than Noon.  We plan to adjourn by 2 PM.  We will meet as in the past at the Shrine Lodge at the north end of Salcha Drive on the west or highway side of the lake.  The attached flyer with an agenda and information on the meeting and a remittance slip to pay dues was also mailed yesterday so you will also get a notice in the mail.  Some of you have paid dues in advance so you can disregard the dues notice.  If you are in doubt how far ahead you are paid, send me a message and we will check and let you know.  To make it easier for us to update records, note an e-mail address only if you are a new member joining or if you have a new or changed e-mail address.  If your last name starts with A through M, please bring a dessert or a snack of some type.  For N through Z please bring a salad or side dish.  If you cannot bring food, forget food, or decide to come at the last minute, do not worry.  Please attend as we always have more than enough food.  The main course and drinks will be provided by the Association.

Please let me know if there are items or issues you wish to have discussed at the annual meeting that might not be noted on the attached agenda.  Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you at our annual meeting on June 4th.

P.S.

I am at the lake as I write this message.  There is still a lot of ice on the lake, but also some open water.  The ice is floating and moving around with the wind.  Some long time observers predict the lake will be ice free by May 15th.

Dear Harding Lake Owners,

Our annual meeting will be held on June 1, 2013, at the Shrine Lodge.  The meeting notice with dues remittance form is attached.  These will also be mailed out later this week if you prefer to wait for that notice.  For the mail out, we obtained the mailing labels through Yukon Title Agency.  They retrieve the labels from the Fairbanks North Star Borough property records, which reflect ownership information on recorded documents with the State Recorder’s Office.  So if there are concerns about the name on the label or the address, this is what is of record.  If you have already paid your 2013 dues, please ignore the dues remittance form.

If you are interested in serving on the Board of Directors, there is at least one vacancy, and of course all 14 board seats are up for consideration.  Per our by-laws, the Board will meet prior to our annual meeting and recommend directors and officers at the annual meeting.  Please let me know if you are interested in serving on the board or as an association officers.

Today Keva Alexander put a new heading on our website entitled “Videos”.  There is a link to a 13 minute video of old Harding Lake days, some in black and white and some in color.  There is no sound.  A few years before Bill Stroecker died, I watched the video with him and took notes with his comments.  Those are included below the video link.  Thanks to Keva for her great work on the website.  http://www.hardinglakeassociation.com/.

Thank you, and please let me know if you have questions or concerns.
